Nepotism Pro Tip: Place Friends in the IG’s Office

A top-ranking Department of Defense (DOD) official was fired in September after the Inspector General’s office (IG) determined that she had misused her position for personal gain. The IG investigation alleges that Dr. Shirley Miles, former head of DOD’s Defense Education Activity, used her authority to hire family and friends, and to receive unauthorized perks and payment.

A gentle reminder to the Shirley Miles among us: if you plan to commit nepotism, you should always begin by placing friends in the IG’s office. Duh.
